5 out of 5 stars corning ware meets the 21st century
sun angel

Not only is the new corning ware apealing to the eye it is versatile. It blends in to whatever dish pattern or table cloth you are using. I bought a set for my Mom who is 85 yrs old. The new corning ware is much lighter in weight and makes it easier for her to handle and carry the dish. At first glance it does not look like this product will be as sturdy as the older version but after dropping it (accidently) and having it ding into other pots and pans I was happy to see it is stronger than it looks. So far nothing has left a staining mark ; I also like the extending edges that blend well with the design and make it easier to keep a handle on a filled dish. I gave this 5 stars because the product is appealing visually; it is sturdy; handles well and washes beautifully ; looks great in the fridge and the price is very reasonable.

5 out of 5 stars This is Not your Mothers corningWare
Great Cook

Never thought I would write a review on CorningWare! But this is not Your Mothers CorningWare with the silly blue flower. Its lite weight (love it), All white but more modern looking, has side handles, that do not stick way out, a Lid with a wide handle on top, and even a great Plastic cover for the Frig. The plastic cover is not cheesy, and fits snug. I was surprised by the lite weight of this, but Don't let the lighter weight stop anyone from buying this CorningWare. Its indestructible, unless you take a hammer to it, and then I have my doubts! That said, I have not dropped it, or smashed it into anything. I have had other sizes of 2 1/2 qt,casseroles but they are bigger on the outside part, and awkward to fit in the microwave, but not this one. Its very compact, and takes up less space to store also.Has allot of flat wide space on the inside bottom, with rounded up sides, which makes foreasy washing, or put in the dishwasher. The inside is allot bigger then I expected. I cut up in chunks about 3 lbs.or more of unpeeled red potatoes, tossed with Olive oil,pad of butter, allot of Garlic, little crushed rosemary, put this in the micro with the lid to soften the potatoes, then roasted them in the oven at 400 degrees, to get them crisp. This cleaned up like a charm, and the potatoes where great. I also used this to micro frozen veggies.I'm sure I will find other uses for this.I Don't understand how anyone could give this a 3 star cause the lid is a little heavy!!Compared to the heavier corningware, there is still no comparason to the weight. After using this, I do not want to buy anything heavier. Why?Going to buy the 1 1/2 Quart. You can cook and serve in this. It looks nice, although not fancy. If I could give this 10 stars I would..

5 out of 5 stars Very light weight
Jellicoe

This very light weight casserole dish seems like it would break as soon as you touch it, but it seems to take all the punishment that I deal it. Easy to use, easy to clean and does not need a forklift to get it out of the cabinet and into the oven. If I had room I would get more. The plastic lid is a nice add on, but yet have seen a need for it.
